Bronze sculpture ”Apollo and Daphne” is based on the mythological tale of Apollo and Daphne. According to this myth, Apollo, the courageous and mighty sun god, had insulted Eros (cupid) about his use of the bow and arrow. Eros responded with revenge, by shooting Apollo with a golden arrow and the nymph Daphne with a lead one. The golden arrow made Apollo fall madly in love with the Daphne, but the led one made Daphne feel a deep repulsion for Apollo. This resulted in a constant chase and game of cat and mouse between the two figures, representing unrequited love. It is also possible to deliver this Apollo holding a bow and arrow.
