Bronze sculpture “Ski-Jumper’’ shows a man on skis during his big jump. With his arms firmly behind his back and straight diagonal posture, he leaps through the air and defeats for a short while the forces of gravity. Ski jumping was first practiced in Norway and gained later popularity through the rest of Europe and the world. On every January 1st, the Year’s Concert that takes place in Vienna is traditionally watched on Dutch television. It is followed by the ski jumping competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which gave the inspiration of making this ski jumper. Ski jumping and skiing are top sports that require a lot of agility, but also give a wonderful sense of freedom.
