Stone sculpture ‘’Stonemason’’ shows a squatting woman who diligently cuts stone with her hammer and chise. One often thinks of a man when the term “stonemason” is used, but women can and do this as well. For example, Rodin’s mistress has cut many carvings for him, but never gotten the recognition for it. This image is therefore an ode to women as stonemason.
